Character Profile - Canin Rosse
« on: July 01, 2011, 07:52:02 AM »

Spurred on by the Character profile of Archer Christifori this is Canin Rosse, Khan of Clan Nova Cat.

A little background, the name of this character was my first RPG character, although he never raised as high as this one.  The Mech he pilots the Dragon Cat was my first Clan OmniMech and both I still stand by.

Canin Rosse, Khan Clan Nova Cat
Born 3038
Homeworld: Barcella, Kerensky Cluster
Mech: Dragon Cat, 70 tons

Trueborn, Nova Cat, MechWarrior, Crusader words to describe Canin Rosse before a vision led him to the Watch.  Has a small scar on left jaw and a second just under his right eye, his war wounds of his childhood as a Clan warrior in training.  Although he only defeated a single warrior in his initial Trial of Position he then went on to earn his Bloodname in 3058 a month before his twentieth birthday this was largely because of his connections within the Rosse Bloodhouse.  Surprising everyone including his backers in the Rosse Bloodhouse he then decided to voluntarily to join the Watch citing a vision.

Arriving on Tortuga he served under Star Captain Mathis, because of his bloodname Canin Rosse was assigned a Timber Wolf OmniMech only the second OmniMech behind the Star Captain's Summoner.  Neither Mathis or Canin Rosse like each other from the start.  In 3059 the Fox's Teeth Company of the Federated Suns arrived investigating the disappearance of the pirates in the area.  Canin knew the Nova Cat orders were to capture enemy combatants however Mathis ordered the Fox's Teeth's destruction.

Canin Rosse instead engaged Mathis in his Timber Wolf and destroyed the Star Captain, claiming control over the Watch Trinary.  Following the Fox's Teeth capture and Khan Santin West's arrival Canin Rosse was confirmed as commander of the Watch Trinary with rank of Star Captain.

During his time on Tortuga with the Fox's Teeth Canin Rosse began to respect Ross McKinnon and his troops and eventually captured Yvonne Steiner-Davion as she came to Tortuga to investigate the the disappearance of the Fox's Teeth and the emergence of Clan Nova Cat from the Tortuga Dominions.

With an agreement to send a force into the Federated Suns Canin Rosse's unit was selected raised to a full Cluster Canin Rosse received an unchallenged promotion to that of Star Colonel by order of Khan West.  He became the first Nova Cat warrior to pilot the brand-new OmniMech, the Dragon Cat which would become his signature Mech.

Following his experiences with the Federated Suns’ Fox’s Teeth and his experiences during the year he spent in the Federated Suns, spending much time with Victor Steiner-Davion and other Federated Suns leaders Canin adopted a different belief from that he had long held.  He no longer could stand by the Warden/Crusader Beliefs of the Clans instead believing in purely a Nova Cat perspective and in expanding and protecting.

Recalled from the Federated Suns he assumed the position of saKhan following saKhan Karl Devalis’ death on Astrokaszy he used this position to further his belief that the Nova Cats needed to continue to expand to survive and secure their position in the Nova Cat's Den.  One way he saw for the Nova Cats is a closer relationship with the Federated Suns but maintaining links to the Homeworlds and to the other Clans.

When Canin Rosse returned to the Nova Cats from the Federated Suns Yvonne Steiner-Davion joined him becoming a bondsman to the Clan.  During their time within the Nova Cat's Den Yvonne Nova Cat and Canin Rosse became close developing a deep relationship so deep that Canin proposed marriage to Yvonne despite the Clan's general dim view on marriage.  Khan Santin West helped cover and smooth this by declaring that this union was supported by a vision.

Following the announcement of Clan Nova Cat's move to the Nova Cat's Den, the death of Santin West in the Grand Council Chambers and attacks against the Nova Cat WarShip fleet.  Canin Rosse arrived in the Clan Homeworlds like a whirlwind of anger killing the Khans of Clan Steel Viper, Ice Hellion and Jade Falcon in a rapid set of Trials of Refusal in the Grand Council chambers before he is even made Khan.  Between Canin Rosse and Khan Vlad Ward Kael Pershaw, the Grand Council Loremaster, was voted out of his position by a no confidence vote.  Following these events he was made Khan by the Nova Cats.

Returning to the Inner Sphere Canin led Nova Cat troops into the Federated Suns to help end the threat of the Varnay family to the Federated Suns landing amid the fighting his forces directly saved the life of Danai Centrella-Davion and her young family.  This action Canin covered purely by saying that it was in the best interest for the Federated Suns to remain stable.

In late May 3073 Canin was inducted into the Order of Davion in the Federated Suns by First Prince Victor Steiner-Davion following the Varnay Crisis.  Though Canin has no intention in using this position to forward goals for his Clan in the Federated Suns it does give him some pull in the nation and the wider Inner Sphere, greater possibly than any other Khan.  This title and assets allowed the Nova Cats to maintain a firebase and embassy on New Avalon as part of the land-grant awarded by the Order's induction.

In 3077 Canin escorted by the Severn Lervoux and the Sigma Galaxy to New Avalon to receive thanks for the Nova Cat scientists work in saving Melinda-Anne Steiner.  He also was able to secure free travel rights within the Federated Suns and Lyran Commonwealth for Nova Cat traders during the trip which allowed his family to meet with their relatives from the two realms.  At this meeting Canin began to look at the long game for his own children having them keep an eye on their future peers.

Also during this visit a mock fight between Nova Cat forces and the combined forces of the Federated Suns and Lyran Commonwealth Canin was able to take down Archon Peter Steiner-Davion’s modified Fafnir BattleMech however he found himself taken down by a charge attack from First Prince Victor Steiner-Davion, this act released the Nova Cats from Zellbrigen and allowed them to carry the day.

Felling betrayed by the Brotherhood Cluster’s attack on Hope in 3080 and the defection of the world from the Nova Cat's Den he personally led the Watch Cluster and Upsilon Galaxy to Hope in 3080 following the attempted rebellion against Nova Cat control.  Fighting was heavy on Hope however the Nova Cats once again carried the day.

Although a trueborn warrior and Khan on the entire Nova Cat Clan Canin Rosse is a family man with two young freeborn children Grayson and Sonja to wife Yvonne, another freeborn.  Outside the Nova Cats no-one is aware of this and within the Clan it is believed that Canin is following a vision.  This relationship is a closely held secret held by ever member of the Nova Cat Clan even if they are captured by another Clan.

Canin Rosse has the full support of Clan Nova Cat within the Clan there is a strong belief that Canin and his children will bring a Golden Age to the Nova Cats, this movement continues to gain strength daily.  In 3082 Canin's first child Grayson became a Star Captain within Alpha Galaxy after his first Trial of Position surpassing even his father's initial Trial is seen as evidence of this "Golden Age."

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.
