The Blakeists Are One Step Closer...
« on: March 27, 2014, 09:29:30 PM »

In a presaging of the End of Days, Knightmare has been promoted to the Purple Battlemaster over at CBT.

I for one, hail our new mechanical overlord.

We should talk about that later...

I didn't realize you were perma-banned Arbiter. I just thought it was a year-long ban.

So when are we going to get professional looking skins on the BT boards? If the Shadowrun boards have had them since they were setup, why can't the same be done at the BT forums.

Nevermind, it appears to already have been done. Should've gone there first.

You're perma-banned?! I'll check this. Although, there's honestly little I can do to change your status since I am not a Moderator. I have no say in bans, etc.

I thought lots of folks were perma-banned, I've seen references on other sites to other folks suffering the fate of Arbiter and myself, with our permanent bans :(  1 year fine, forever, and I didn't flame anybody or post anything illegal, sheesh.

And yet you ascended the warning/ban ladder legitimately. You agreed to those rules when you registered for the boards.

I can count the number of permabans we've executed on the site over the last 13 years on less than two hands.

Naaah, I don't buy it.  I'm in the same boat, had like 1k posts and was writing programs to help the IP monthly, and I'm still bitter about losing the ability to get more feedback there than my horrible blog.  If I hadn't have been banned, by now I would easily have finished a mech/vehicle/building/infantry/warship/fighter/mobile structure/base/RPG/etc builder, probably revamped my interstellar mapping app, long since have had my alpha strike card maker done, and would probably be neck deep in an app to track record sheets online.  Oh, and that assumes I didn't finish a 2D real time version of BT (megamek looking, but real time).  That loss of feedback seriously hurt my desire to contribute, and probably my pride a bit.

I think being a moderator is a lot of working though, especially if you have various responsibilities outside of just monitoring various threads.  You get treated differently as you are marked differently, and that changes a dynamic when you talk to folk.  You also often end up actually *working* to help keep the forums in check.

Congrats on Knightmare for being a moderator, may it be fun and glorious for him, and hopefully not suck too bad when Disney gets a hold of the April fools PDF :)
