With New Avalon fallen, the AFFS was desperate to turn back the tide of the combined Cappelan and Combine offensives, fortunaly, while planning on reclaimed New Syrtis for the next push against the Confederation, Kallonm Industries scoured for a mech that could keep mechwarriors alive agianst both foes at thier best. insparation came from the recently declassified UNBOUND file, detailing mechs and technology developed by a Dr Burke Kale.
though no one wanted to revisit Technology that made the Manei Domini so infamous, the modified Crusader Battlemech that housed the first combat ready torso mounted cockpit proved interesting. experience with the Second Generation Enforcer III and it's cpockpit arraingment proved that the concept was sound, so an additiona chassis was procured (from a salvaged cappelan Crusader appropriatly enough" to test it.
the new P2 Wild Fire is designed first and foremost for pilot protection. 13 tons of reactive armor and a laser anti missile system make missile and artillery bombardment difficult at best, forcing foes to close and engage with energy weapons. Close range is where the Wildfire is the most dangerous however. with a Snub Nosed PPC and Medium X Pulse laser providing offensive punch, and the uninteruptable boiosted C3 slave providing targeting telemetry to whatever network it is. connected to.
so far only 4 combat ready Wildfires have been produced and are ready for field testing against the confederation. time will tell if this is one of the weapons that will tunr the tide, or the last great gasp of the Federated Suns.
