Orion IIC
General Kerensky's chosen ride! The most honored 'Mech of the SLDF and the Clans. We had to give this one a most excellent makeover!
Once again, we dropped the tonnage to 70-tons and up the speed to 5/8/0. The old AC-10 gets an upgrade to an LB-10X with two tons of ammunition. The LRM-15 grows in size to an LRM-20 with Artemis IV and three tons of ammunition. The SRM-4 has been replaced with a Streak SRM-6 and a ton of ammunition. Both Medium Lasers have been upgraded to Extended-Range models, and twin ER Small Lasers (center torso-mounted) have been added.
The lasers and LB-10X are tied into a three-ton Targeting Computer to improve accuracy. While twelve double-strength heat sinks are able to deal adequately with the heat load; if the Streak SRM-6 does not lock, the design is heat-neutral on a run. If the Streak locks and the ER Small Lasers are not in range, the design remains heat-neutral on a run. Only at close range (6 hexes or less) when the Streak locks onto a target does the Orion IIC generate any excess overheat . . . and only then if the Warrior fires all of his weapon systems.
