Product Reviews

Here's a quick question. I've come to realize with all of the great dialogue taking place regarding some of CGL's latest releases that we're in desperate need of someone or some people to write product reviews.

Are there any takers? Dedicated or even semi-dedicated product reviewers - it might be worth your while. PM me for details or if interested.

Thanks!

I would love to, but time constraints mean it probably won't happen.  That said, I might still try though.

I'm in the same boat, hence the all points bulletin for help! Somebody on the forum wants to help!

I may give it a whirl. Can't say I've done many before. But I likely wouldn't get started on any until closer to the end of July.

It all depends how much, what format and so on.

There's really no format for a product review. If you're looking for a detailed product review of other BattleTech products, you can check out the scrapyard, or even DrivethruRPG.

I'm sorely tempted to do a product review of the BT forums.  ;D

And I would be more than happy to collaborate on that.

I'm not sure if I have the comedy chops for it. Because lately, it sure has turned into one of the funniest places ever to read.

"This note on a random page in StratOps is the entire definition for a tech era. Oh, and if you disagree with the flawed logic here, even with tons of other relevant quotes from the writers, you're just wrong. Because I said so."

"If it is something terrible, and I can use it to make a political statement regarding real world politics...WoB did it."

"This one passage from a poorly fact-checked novel from two decades ago trumps anything else ever written."

"Your opinion is wrong. Because I said so."

I don't know how the writers don't just ragequit.

You would probably be amused to know that I stared a blog weeks ago article for this site that is still half finished about a conversation screaming argument you were having with CBT's biggest arse.  The article then starts to describe the the main personalities found on CBT.

It is a start on a CBT article, so if you want, i can PM what I have started so far and we can flesh it out if you like?

Really, as long as there is an unbroken line of people calling themselves "Clan Nova Cat," it doesn't really matter to me if they're still using Iron Wombs or not. They may be dead as a faction, but as a people they still exist. It's not uncommon in the real world, after all.

Well, I'd appreciate anything. I'm simply swamped with my other "responsibilities" here, so Product Reviews, Rants, etc., seem to fall further and further to the bottom of the proverbial pile. It's not that I don't want to write them, I just can't. (Insert Sad Face)

I can say this - those of you who want to showcase some of your writing talents, writing a product review is a good place to start. The Game Industry isn't just about writing fiction. There are a whole slew of peripheral ways to earn a buck and get involved in a meaningful manner - also, writing useful criticism is helpful! (I won't say why, but it is - trust me!)

In a lot of ways, showing off here gives you an edge over those F'tards on the CBT forums. Writers, developers, etc., do pay attention (despite what you think - they tend to do so in stealth) and have a far easier time reading and listening to someone through this type of platform (which is self contained and monitored for idiots & fanboys) than on the CBT snake-pit.

That said, I will re-mention that there are "boons" to writing for the OBT - I'll just leave those specifics to the takers.

Well I'm not good at write reviews of stuff Besides the only thing I have bought in the last 10 year has been Strat Ops. I haven't really gone thur it all just the Battleforce stuff and I'm still trying to read thur the Advanced section. I do like the way it is set up. Anyways. I'd like to see some reviews of some products.

Once I get done with proof-reading Historical: Reunification War  ::), I'm going to get back into the FotW stuff - reposts and new columns in the (hopefully very) near-future, the latter of which I'd like to cross-post here.

I might also get into the product-review side of things, if I can remember not to gush over how cool it is that they finally gave us H:RW and actually look at it with something resembling objectivity.  ;D
