I think the big take-away from this mission is that when you dictate the actions of your opponent, they are at a severe disadvantage. Separating their forces, even if their tanks were still shooting, allowed us to choose who we would concentrate fire on. While S.L.A.A.P. took a beating, we kept them from shooting at some of the more vulnerable targets that might have been easily crippled.

Yeah, we were able to apply 100% of our firepower at 100% effectiveness while they were only able to apply like 80% of their firepower at like 60% effectiveness.  Some of their units couldn't shoot, and of those units, some couldn't even get all their guns into range, or into medium range.  Definitely huge.

This reminds me the demonstration made by Guderian explaining why you should concentrate your tanks.

Each chased the Ice Hellion, hunting it down.
All failed to match the predator's speed and grace.
Khan Cage smiled and said, "And that is how we shall be."
