Rim Protectorate Symbol?

Hey gang. I suddenly realized we don't have a symbol for the Rim Protectorate. Any ideas or artful submissions. Wink Start throwing some stuff at the wall, now! Grin

I'd say a shield(white) with crossed swords(black longsword and red Bastard sword) don't think the RP wants any animals symbols as that might remind them of the old crest

I think the real question in relation to the sharks jaws is if it was more associated with House Amaris or the RWR.

I'd suggest somehow incorporating a small Cameron Star somewhere to reinforce that fact that they are a Protectorate of the Terran Republic.

Can not draw well as you can see, but here is one idea.
I could draw the basic shield just do not have a program or talent to put designs on it.
Cameron Star on upper half, something military (crossed swords maybe) on the bottom half.

Better. Getting real close. Want to point out a few things that I think should be taken into account.

1. The colors of the Rim Republican Army (RRA) were red and black. Periphery SB pg 24 (Rebellion in the Rim). I sighted this in FM TR pg 126 in the Republican Legionaries.

2. The Crest of House Amaris (see below from Heavy Metal). Colors are blue and red. I don't think the Rim or Terra wants any association with this what so ever.

3. The Protectorate is a Terran possession, yes it is autonmous to a great degee but not a sovereign nation. So we should include the Terran star or stars.

So the big question, what should the national symbol be? It looks like the Rim color is RED. We should probably add yellow or gold for the Republic but not. Like Techwarrior's shield it is a keeper but we should have a national symbol for the Rim and not a shark or a Terran star. Something that will be uniquely Rim. Like the Sword and sunburst for Davion, or the Steiner Fist, the Kurita Dragon, the Marik Eagle, or the Liao Sword.

perhaps a black and gold shield with a red band down the center with a Phoenix in the upper left field (symbolising the Protectorate rising from the ashes), and something distinctly Rim Worlds (but not house Amaris) in the lower right field.

Thinking of a Firebird but perhaps not because of Project Phoenix. The organization may have won some grudging respect there but is remember for shipping out much of the Rim Worlds possessions.

What is something uniquely Rim Worlds? That is the question. I remember in the original Periphery sourcebook that the nation was founded on the ancient Greek principles of the Republic. So perhaps something like this Corinthian helmet??

Nice, although I would change the colour of the upper left corner of the shield to differentiate it from the Terran Republic and I would put the helmet into darker colours.

Well I did more today with the symbols I had. I like the hammer for a Rim symbol as they are a hard working people used to doing things low tech. Got a falcon, an eagle, and a stylized lion in there as well. Let me know what you think. Wink

Defidently like the one with the Corinthian Helm though I do not know if i like the field colors for it. Red immages on a red field just dont look as cool to me perhaps. Maby change the field to Red in the upper left and Gold in the lower right keeping the symbols the same colors?

K, how is this then. The best two symbols I like for the Rim so far is the ancient Greek helmet and the Hammer. Any other ideas?

Hammer reminds me of to many other story lines mainly dealing with dwarfs, sort of Lord of the Rings look. Just my opinion.
Also if an agreement can be attained I know someone on S7 that does excellent art work, he is making up a sample of the shield I started this with using a Cameron Star on the top and crossed sabers on the bottom. Hope you all don't mind my asking him to make a sample. If you like his work that would be great, if you have someone here that is good at art work that is great also or if you like what has been created that is great also.
