Sure, but why a nightingale?  Nightingales symbolize romantic love or beauty of song/poetry/art.

There's the robin, which symbolizes deliverance from evil (strong Christian metaphor)
The swan, which symbolizes rebirth and purity.
The rooster, which symbolizes vigilance and new dawn
The dove, which symbolizes peace and innocence
The goose, which symbolizes selflessness and the home
The peacock, which (in the past) symbolized resurrection, honesty, and Christ's everlasting life.
The raven, which symbolizes the end of danger, and a secure future (Celtic, Native American)
The redbird (cardinal), which symbolizes restoration, life, and hope through (Christian) God

The Nightingale alludes to the nurse of that name in my mind which gets at Joshua's fragile physical condition. It is a romantic dream that he'd return to the Free Worlds League almost as a savior after all. I think it works on a number of layers.

Okay folks something I'll be doing again, as Jeffrey Marik has morphed into a Parliamentarian, is the breakdown of the FWLM. Which units go where in the Civil War, whose loyal to who?? More later!

The Provincial Military Recall Order was issued by the FWLM during the Battle of Sadurni. Realizing that Minister-General Paul Marik could face possible reprisals for any counterattack against the Capellan Confederation this daring gambit was devised to alleviate any direct involvement on his part. General Selim Halas directed all regional commands to return to their home provinces (such as Oriente) enabling these areas to act freely while allowing the Mariks to deny responsibility. The plausibility of these denials were of course reinforced by the internal fighting with the Parliamentarians thus no blame could be fixed to Paul for actions taken against Isis and her allies.

Free Worlds Legionnaires (5+ regiments - Andurien)
Four of the five active regiments of this unit are deeply involved in trying to repulse McCarron's Invasion of Andurien which began with the Battle of Sadurni. This includes the assembling and inactive 6th which is at approximately one third strength on Andurien. The presence of Corrine Marik and the attack on the 2nd galvanized the Legionnaires as an anti-Isis force immediately. However, aside from the return of the 4th to reinforce Andurien little has been done by Paul or Jeffrey to bolster their heroic defensive efforts resulting in growing regional ties.

Given that the Free Worlds Legionnaires are hand-picked by SAFE to be loyal to the Mariks first, and the Andurien Humphreys a very very distant second, how devoted are they in reality to defending Andurien from McCarron's?

Is it a case where the Legionnaires are "accidentally" destroying large chunks of planetary infrastructure, which Big Mac is trying very hard to keep largely unscathed?

I would think the Legionnaires are more loyal to Corrine and the realm at this time than Paul who is reluctant to strike back at those who could harm his daughter. With the Provincial Recall Order and the reshuffling of troops it puts the weight on them for the defense of Andurien which is supplying them to that end. I am sure they would like to take the initiative but have been hamstrung by the Third Marik Civil War and placed on the defensive. I doubt they'd take it out on Andurien for what has happened rather just do their level best in its defense.
