On this Christmas eve, as we all spend time with family cherishing loved ones I am proud to announce that I am stepping down from the role of Archon, in favor of my daughter Melissa Steiner.  She has shown a brilliant mind and the youthful exuberance that will be required to lead our nation into the future with peace and prosperity.  Surrounding her are not only the excellent advisors that have served the entire Commonwealth well, but also her own selection of advisors and councils.

It is long past time to leave the struggles we have had with our neighbors in the past and my continued role as Archon would only prolong the beginning of the healing process that will lead the entire Inner Sphere into a golden age.

We all stand at a threshold where petty disagreements and squabbles can be left behind and we all can live in peace.

I leave behind a strong military, strengthening navy, and robust economy at home, as well the Lyran Commonwealth has strong ties to nearly all of our Inner Sphere neighbours, and excellent ties with all of the periphery nations.

Now as I step back from the act of governing, I am looking forward to playing with grandchildren... no pressure... and just want to enjoy the realm that we all helped build together.  I am very proud to have been your Archon, and look forward to many more years of a strong and powerful Lyran Commonwealth under my daughter's guidance.
