The Idea for The Tribe began when they release 'Welcome to the Nebula California' a few years ago. They discovered colonies of humans that had been completely unknown previously. Unfortunately they couldn't leave. Messages could escape the nebula, but nothing else could. The Tribe's existence originates all the way back to that time.
The book has the detailed report coming out of the nebula in 3105, but for my story, my What if point, I wanted it a little earlier than that, and have it set around 3087. The Expedition has surveyed several wolds (the ones in the book) and discovered that they could not leave the nebula.
Now my love for the BattleTech universe stems from unit design. I like designing custom machines, and I like writing the stories behind those machines. That is what drives me, personally. For that reason, I plan to tell this story in the form of Unit lore, as I post new designs. That being said, if, once I get things going, anyone else feels they have a story that would fit, they can send it to me and, I'll read it, decide if I want any revisions in it to fit what I have planned, and then post it, with credit. If I do decide it needs revisions, I'll discuss them with you over PM. Same goes for unit design.
Either way, I hope everyone else enjoys what I (and anyone who ends up contributing), have to share. Also thanks for this community having what seems to be a great place to set up something like this.
