Overview:
With only a limited number of mechs, the RWA can not afford to dedicate its mechs to perform recon missions.  Instead they rely on their armored forces to conduct reconnaissance operations.  Initially the RWA used a number of different AFVs in the recon role, but as these were originally designed as combat units, their performance was sub optimal.  In 2520, the RWA commissioned the Delphi Scout as a dedicated recon vehicle.  By 2530 it could be found in every unit in the RWA and also supporting numerous planetary militias.

Capabilities:
The Delphi is designed to conduct reconnaissance deep behind enemy lines.  The rugged chassis and engine are highly durable and can hold even under heavy use.  The low silhouette reduces visibility, allowing the Delphi to hide behind low walls and hills.  While the use of a wheel chassis limits the Delphi’s ability to enter wooded terrain, this is more then made up for by the vehicles impressive speed.

The Delphi is equipped with one of the most advanced com systems built in the Republic. The VersaCom is well respected, it can transmit over a significant range and even through the worst conditions with little loss of signal quality.
Not intended for combat, the Delphi is light armored.  The weaponry is limited to a single vehicle flamer. This is mounted on the rear of the Delphi and is used to discourage pursuit should the vehicle be spotted by the enemy.  A small cargo bay can hold additional supplies and equipment for extended duration assignments.

Deployment:
The Delphi was deployed with every RWA unit during the Reunification War. While the design did not see any action, it played a vital role in relaying intel to the RWA officers.  A large number of these vehicles survived the war intact and continue to serve in the RWA.

Ordinarly I would not agree with a flamer as the sole weapon but in this instance it works

Fear is our most powerful weapon and a Heavy Regiment of Von Rohrs Battlemech's is a very close second.-attributed to Kozo Von Rohrs
