Overview:
The Alacorn Mk IX was developed in isolation during the confusion of the FedCom
Civil War. Without ready access to the New Earth, Loyalist forces found their
Alacorn numbers falling off. In need of something to fill this gap they asked
that a replacement be provided.
Capabilities:
Aldis Industries obtained a license from NETC for several of the systems used
on the Alacorn, although not for the full tank. By removing the turret
mechanisms (limiting the weapon traverse) and replacing the reactor with a
simpler fuel cell engine, Aldis provided a slightly smaller and more economical
superheavy tank that could bring the same formidable firepower to the
battlefield.
Deployment:
The Alacorn Mk IX saw action through the last years of the Civil War with
several Allied units deploying salvaged units. Legal challenges from NETC and
the outbreak of the Jihad halted production of new Mk IXs. Those that remained
saw action in the many conflicts of the Jihad and no known units survive.
