Shotel Light Battle Armor

BA-22 Shotel Battle Armor
The Elysium Defense Force, much like the rest of the inner sphere, sees Battle Armor as the wave of the future for their military, providing battlemechs scale firepower in a much more compact and easy to use and train package.  Cost and size have always been an issue however, and while the EDF has been happy to import second hand battlesuits from the Draconis Combine, the need for natively developed battle armor has never been more apparent.
For the EDF’s first foray into home brewed battle armor technology, the brass called for a light suit that could easily engage in Military Police, Search and Rescue, and battlefield surveillance and reconnaissance.  The result after 4 years of R&D and 2 years of field trials was the Shotel multi threat response suit.  The Shotel is equipped to meet most light duty battlefield needs,  with enough armor protection to demand a medium laser to stop the suit, and an over under arraignment of Light Machine guns and AP weapon mounts (holding Mauser 960 Assault Systems typically) providing main firepower.
The beauty of the Shotel is in the back mounted Modular Equipment mount that permits the suit to be equipped for each mission as demanded.  Whether it is enhanced sensors, electronic warefare needs, or heavier firepower, the Shotel can provide.

If there is one complaint about the Shotel among operators, particularly on the front lines as opposed to support roles, it is that while a Medium laser is required to stop a suit, a medium laser will also deal lethal damage to the operate an estimated 78% of the time.  This has led to a second variant being tested, which provides an additional 50 Kilograms of armor, while significantly cutting into the Modular equipment racks carrying capacity.

The variant may cut into the carrying capacity but the trooper will still be alive to accomplish the mission.

as I acknowledged.  I wanted to make a Periphery suit that had this one massive deep flaw to it.  in it's assigned roles of Battlefield support such as MP duty or Force Protection it would be fantastic, but for front line battlefield service... it works but not as well as it could.

Common packages are

Weapons support
Light Recoiless Rifle
BA Flamer
Heavy Machine Gun

Ambush
Rocket Launcher 4

Spotter
TAG
Compact NARC (2 shots)

EW/Recon
ECM Suite
Improved Sensors
